are these interchangeable ie not coded to the engine which is a 328 m52 ?

ECU/EWS and key chip are a package, if you mix them up the ECU wont allow the engine to start

The module and key chip are produced to work together, they are then coded to the ECU. If you have a matching chip and EWS you can have them re-coded to a different ECU, if you know someone with the right equipment
