Also as i found out last night my m40 gearbox from an l-reg e30 touring has the right size shaft to fit the m50/52 spigot bearing.

I had already change it for the small one too

So moral of the story is check first :?

^ aw what a bitch lol, hope you have a bearing puller to make life easier :?

I didn't have one, you should ave seen what I had to do to get mine out 8O, made it using 2 long bolts and a couple of washers lol. Did the trick though :)

Yes mate they can both be used but.....

M40 box =318 or 320 prop (longer front section)

M42 box =325 prop (minus the vibration damper)

if using the m42 box a new m20 spiggot bearing is needed (12mm hole) 8)

With the m42 box I used my 320 linkage yoke, it sits in the hole in the tunnel slightly forward but I overcome this by using a z3 short shift lever rotated 180 degrees.

I'm not sure which linkage is used with the m40 box, I do know that its slightly shorter than the m42 box hence needing the slightly longer 320 prop.
