Something isn't right

Well today I got my M50 fitted.
But something isn't right... and my suspicion points to some incorrect rubber engine mounts
The mounts:
Here's the problems
Shifter arm doesn't line up
Inaccessible heater matrix hoses:
Space at back of engine, or lack of it (It's so tight that I can't fit the plastic covers on!)
So what do you lot think - wrong mounts?

What box and prop-shaft are you using??
I fitted a m50 in to mine and have been using it daily, I had to customise the mounts because the engine was to far forwards. I have seen them done like that and they sent the matrix pipes through and connected them up in the car and had to adapt gear linkage.

525i ZF gearbox and 328i prop.
The prop isn't connected yet.

Nearside mount:
Offside mount (with earth strap):
The mounts are from an E36.

Those look like E34 rubber mounts to me?
Do you have the gearbox bolted up on the mount? With the mount off the engine will tilt back into the bulkhead, looking at the positioning of the engine mounts id say there is nothing wrong.
Which linkage is that?

In those pictures the gearbox isn't bolted up - it's being supported by a jack but it can be pushed higher.
The linkage is 'apparently' an e36 325i linkage.
So the mounts aren't the right ones?

I still have the mounts from the e34 donor and they are different to the mounts I've used.

I dont know, what mounts are they?
There are two types of E36 325 linkages, one is cranked over to the left where the shifter mounts, the other is straight

Didn't know that!
I think I have a 'cranked' one. What one do I need?

Not sure. I got them off Jhonno. I just put up a wanted ad for mounts suitable for M50 and those are what I got.

if the mounts came off jhonno i would say they are the right ones!! they can be "adjusted" a little by rotating the rubber bit as the threads are offset. not enough to get your selector lined up tho!

I hope so. I'm on holiday tomorrow so I'll sort it out when I get home. Hopefully just a new selector is needed.

Does anyone have some pictures of the 2 types of e36 325i linkage?

I turned that top heater matrix pipe 180 degrees on mine so it angles slightly down instead of up - theres just enough room then. Think that's what most people have done.

There's a little indexing pin to cut off.

It would appear that I have a straight gear linkage and not a cranked one.
Can anyone tell me if the cranked gear linkage is a tad shorter that the straight one?
