Im pretty sure i know the answer to this, but if a get a m52b28 engine from an auto car, do i need to source a m52 manual flywheel?
Im thinking yes, and therefore that the m20 flywheel and clutch cant be used.
Posting somewhat hopefully that im wrong
Cheers,

M20 flywheel will bolt straight on, grinding the fins on the sump or get the flywheel lightened is all thats needed
Dont forget the spigot bearing

When you've bought it, check that it fits the input shaft of the gearbox you intend to use. There are two different diameters around.

I am using an E30 318iS gearbox and bought a M20 spigot bearing, about £7 from BMW I think

That answers my question then
If you don't mind me chiming into your topic, what clutch do most people use with this engine and iS box? I've got a m20 flywheel and starter and been offered a m20 clutch, secondhand, with not a lot of miles on it. Are there other options for clutches? Not wanting anything thats heavy or bits hard, something for everyday use.

If your using an M20 flywheel you will need an M20 clutch, Sachs are the best (not aircon spec though) , LUK are also good, dont buy or use any lesser makes as you will be disappointed when it sh!ts itself and you have the lovely job of changing it in the car.
M50 flywheel/clutch are probably better for an everyday car, driving around town etc, but there is a noticeable difference in how fast the engine speeds up when using an M20

I see no reason why I shouldn't allow the engine to speed up as quick as it can

I already have the m20 fly so Sach M20 clutch kit it is.
ECP seem to list two:
Sachs Clutch Kit
part# 641110100
BMW 3 Series 325 2.5 (1990)
and
Sachs Clutch Kit
part# 641110090
BMW 3 Series 325 2.5 (1990)

You need to speak to them and ask for the details, this is an aircon spec clutch -
And a standard -
The extra sprung piece is what cause the problem, judders like fook after a while

You must have had a bad clutch, was it new? Warranty? Standard Sachs have been used with turbo M20's over 300bhp without problems
