Holy sh*t I have updates!!
I think I'm ready to rip all this out and prep the bay for paint. A shitload of cleaning to do meh.
And headlight adjusters

Also rewired tail lights, sorted heater and other minor stuff.
Brake lines are horrid so they need a redo etc etc etc.

Sorry mate, I missed this question.
Like Will says, it's a m52tu b28. The car in the first picture is a 2000 South African spec 328 manual (rear around these parts).
Slightly different to most Euro type cars. Shame it wasn't a 330.

Proper updates....
Engine bay prep

First prime

Sand

Second prime

Second sand

Base coat

Clear

And a reasonably clean engine.

My clearcoat skills need practice.
What you cant see are a couple of small runs and some dry areas!
The stuff always seems too thick to flow nicely and then suddenly runs on ya. Its a bloody fine line and engine bays are a prick of a thing to paint.

Awesome dude. I really wish I had the know how, space and time to do this. That is awesome. If I knew what I was doing I would spend every spare minute I had doing it.

Just looking at your design in the banner i noticed your going for quarter bumpers on the front, i tried to make some of these out of a couple of old chrome bumpers but didn't have much luck, your fabricating skills are a lot better than mine so you'll proberly get them looking better than this..

Picked up a bonnet stay!
Whilst I initially enjoyed having the bonnet smack me in the head, it eventually got annoying.
Also means i have pics of the bay with engine.
Behold the pos camera...

So, for anyone who gives a sh*t, this is how the flares are created.
The std flare is cut off and the inner and outer skins are welded to each other.
This is the flare transferred to steel from the mdf template.
A length of 4mm wire is then welded to the inside edge. It has to be one piece and you need to be carefull as you bend it to shape.
It forms an even curve and reinforces the edge of the flare.
It must be fully welded before it's put back on the car.
This is the back.
You can see the holes transferred from the template too.
So you can fix it to the car and begin welding.
Massage it a little to make it nice
After welding and starting to clean it up
Right, way ya go.
I expect to see flares on all your cars by this time tomorrow.

This rear quarter was a bit rough so needed a bit of work
Final shaping to be done on front.
