I'm trying to get hold of these mounts.
I contacted BMW and they wanted £33+vat for one and £39+vat for the other. I thought this was a bit steep. Anyone know where else I can get them?
And to clarify, it is the E28 M5 mounts that I need to fit the M50 with the E34/6 gearbox?
(I ask because I heard somewhere that the engine needs to be at a different angle, and therefore different mounts are required, if the E30 gearbox is used.)
Thanks
Stu

It is a while since I bought my E28 M5 mounts, but it was about £50+ from BMW for the pair. I'm using an E30 gearbox from an iS and I believe it is only the E30 M20 gearboxes which cause the box to sit at the wrong angle.

is it part number 8 on this page right?
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=11&fg=10
do you get 2 of the cylindrical parts under that one part number? as im guessing its the cylinder bit you need, not the triangular one
edit, on oem the m535i one is considerably cheaper and a different part number...whats the difference and which one do i need?

I used these M5/635 mounts with my first M50, they are now on my chromie and are very good although they are £60 worth
I fitted these in the link below to my track car (courtesy of Dezzy) and they are very good for £11 each, plenty good enough for a road car

this is for a rally car/hill climb car i'm afraid.
out of interest, with those green mounts what box where you using? im using a 325 sport box with modded mount and am just concerned it all line up. but if it does, i dont mind spending £60 for a set of decent mounts
edit, skim read it then and didn't see you used them on a track car. how well did they fair?
thanks

If the car is going to be used for track/rally/hill climb then I suggest you spend on some AKG mounts as the engine will be moving around much more and any rubber mounts will deteriorate a lot faster

i must be going stupid, on the akg website it doesn't seem to list any engine mounts for the m5/m535?
wish i hadn't seen it though, has some nice goodies!
sorry was being stupid, didnt think it would be in the e30 section.
thanks again

Yep, in the E30 section as they are designed for M50 conversions

wondering if it could be worthwhile organising a group buy in an attempt to knock the price down a little?

I take it I just need 2 of the "M5 ( 1987-88 ) Sedan Manual Transmission, with S38 Engine (E28)" mounts?

Two of the mounts in that link, they are left hand mounts but work fine on either side
Using the square mount on the drivers side wouldnt hurt and would probably be better

I just added the E28 motor mount set:
It totaled $90 (£59.86) for one set delivered to the UK, so a discount would be good!

ross_jsy@yahoo.co.uk>Hello,
Thank you for your email.
If you order 5 sets or more of our #MM5030, we could offer a 5% discount;
10 sets or more would be 15% discount.
We ship via USPS Express Mail International, with an estimated delivery time
of 5 business days. Shipping costs are based on weight (# of items
ordered), so we can't really give an accurate quote until that is known, but
for reference 5 sets would be US$125.00 (10 sets $250).
Buyers are responsible for any and all customs related fees and duties.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Regards,
Lisa
So i am assuming that means 5/10 sets of each.
ill pm a mod to get the neccessary permission to stick this in the group buy section
