Hi, I am looking to do a M52 conversion. I will be using the complete E36 Engine wire loom with the EWS as I would like to retain the immobiliser function via the EWS function.

Will convert the X20 connector to C101 for the E30 connection also getting my E30 key coded to this EWS using the exiting E36 key.

Other than doing the x20 connector conversion will I be able to run the engine with the EWS with the standard ECU (that came out the car) or would I need additional modification to the wire loom, i.e any EWS wiring connections to C101?

Any advice greatly welcomed.

EWS is a single wire between the EWS module and the matching engine ECU. Either wire through a spare C101 pin, or wire direct. The module and ECU will normally be nearly touching each other when fitted in a RH drive E30, so wire direct is the obvious choice.

Thank you for this, are you able to provide details of where the EWS is located on a RH E36, is this behind the glove box or under the steering column?

Little antenna receiver module is on driver's side, mounted on the LH side of the relay mounting block.
Main EWS module is one of the 'drawers' on the passenger side. The one with the yellow plug.
