wiring ABS to E39 loom

The red/yellow ABS wire on an E30 is just the 12 volt power feed to the ABS system, and needs to be live when the engine is running. You could separate it out completely from the engine loom if you wanted, and just use a simple extra relay taking power directly from the battery, and switched by the green ignition switched live wire - just like the original version with the separate overvoltage relay by the ABS ECU.
The engine loom already has a relay that energises with the ignition switch, and takes a power feed directly from the battery - the DME relay.
The extra wire to pin 20 of the C101 can be taken from either of the '87' terminals on this relay.
