Firstly, is there a turbo kit available off the shelf or is it custom all the way? Also, When would I need to upgrade the internals of the engine?

cant wait to start!!!!!!!!

standard internals are good for 400hp. you will need to fabricate a manifold and downpipe as no off the shelf parts are available for turbo m50 engined e30 s. good luck :)

Incorrect.

Standard internals are good for at least 500hp if you run ARP and MLS gasket.
With great challenges comes great engineering.

what are those ebay m50 turbo manifolds like? Anyone used one in a conversion etc?

Obviously at £120 a manifold I suppose your not expecting much, but you never know; maybe there are some successfull conversions out there that I don't know about. :?:

I've got one. Paid £40 for it! Won it on ebay as a pose to buying it now. The quality is ok, welding is tidy the metal is about 2mm thick. The welds are prone to going but according to people in the states having a the turbo well supported really helps and also the manifold flange to the head is one peice and needs to be sepparated into 6 individual. This helps with expansion and contraction.

I have seen this one on VACS site but its not cheap, looks good quality though.

Would i be right in thinking its not a good idea to try forced induction on an M52 with a nikasil block.

You´d be right. At least nothing far above 450ish(MLS gasket and ARP´s), I can´t even remember having seen a M52 ally block being pushed by anyone. So it may well withstand more then that if done right.
