parts compatibility for swap

Right so I've got a pretty bare 3.5 from an e32,

Can I use an idle valve from any m30, does it need to be e32 / 3.5 specific (i.e would a 635csi or m535i idle valve work)

Same goes for MAF, does it need to be e32 specific, or will any 3.5/3.4 one work, or even an m20 MAF? Does the ecu learn? Will there be restrictions if using an m20 unit?

Also, just to double check, can I use a flywheel from an e28 m535i?
I will be using m30 box and I'm planning on using an m5 clutch. (hoping someone may have a cheap supplier for these)

While I'm here..... the engine will be going into a 2.0 touring. I plan on using the m20 loom and a 179 ecu with an m30 chip.
Ive seen the odd bit of info on this, just needing to extend a few injector wires, maybe a plug or two... that sound about right?

Thanks in advance guys.

I think you can use any ICV (idle valve) from any e30\34\32\28\24 BMW, as for AMF meter don't think m20 unit will do as it is smaller and I think the spring tension will be different, besides m20 unit is mounted in filter box where m30 is totaly separate unit and is mounted on rocker cover.

Cool thanks, forgot its an AFM, that makes sense.

I was kinda planning on modifying the inlet manifold and sending it over the n/s rather than keeping the standard position. If using an m30 AFM i guess it will be staying where it should be.

Cheers

You can use an e28 flywheel, as long as you use the e28 clutch with it, I have one on mine.
