Is it possible to get a stomp test readout on our m30d cars? Or is this a US spec thing?

Theoretically, it is possible, if you connect a light to pin 15 of the ECU:

The check light wasn't fitted as standard to any Euro spec cars, for some odd reason (probably so that the stealers could rape you for any diagnostics needed!)

Can this be done on the diagnostics port in the engine bay?

Possibly, maybe from pin 6:

Though, AFAIK, pin 12 of the diagnostic socket is connected to pin 15 of the ECU, so you could take a test lamp from it and hook it up to +12V to conduct a stomp test.

What makes you think its pin 6?

I believe so, yes, though stand to be corrected.

Hang on, which pin on the OBD port under the bonnet?

Just use a multimeter, set on continuity or low resistance range, to ensure that you are getting continuity (i.e. a closed circuit) between OBD port pin 12 and pin 15 of the ECU.

If you are, then pin 12 of the OBD socket can be used to hook the lamp to, with the other end of the lamp going to +12V.

I'm not getting continuity between OBD pin 12 and ECU pin 15...

Any other way I can do this?

In that case, you'll have to find a way of hooking the lamp directly between pin 15 of the ECU and a +12V supply.
