I want to test for a leaking injector, can the fuel rail be removed without taking the intake fannymold off like on an m20?

Yes, there's enough room to get the injectors out by popping it upwards, bit fiddly but can be done.

Bast4rd job to do with the manifold on though.

Also make sure the area around the injectors is nice and clean so no crap falls into the manifold when you pull the injectors out

I'll have a go in the morning, just want to pull them out to see if one is dribbling...

If you've got the cash spare send them off to Injectortune to be reconditioned, they were advertising on here a while back, thats where I sent mine to, you get them back in a few days, great service

Yeah they look good, but they are 19lb/hr .. m30 ones are 17lb/hr. So I'm not sure how they will perform on a standard engine... really not sure I want my m30 using more fuel than it does now.. good price though.!

I might just go down the refurb route with injectortune, thats if I do infact have a leaky injector.

Yer I have those 19lb jobbies but I have not run the engine yet. I have loads of spare m30 535 standard injectors if anyone needs any, postage cost only

Ok so pulled the injectors out today, they look like this;



See the one on the end, the little yellow cap on the end is missing half.! Could this be the cause of my problems?

I also checked for dribbling, they didn't so perhaps one might be slightly blocked?

I put 3 in with the alternator, did you want another 3 also ?

I should get my refurbs back tomorrow, I'll bang em in and see if it helps.

I fitted the alternator tonight with, thanks for polishing it up too.! Will let you know if it works tomorrow.

I think yelow/orange ish injectors are 19lb

Yeah the ones I have a 19 lb from m30 3.0, 3.5 and m40 1.8 engines.

I fitted the refurbed injectors today, the engine is so much smoother.! Well worth doing.

That's great, hope the alternator helps also.

I fitted the alternator yesterday and tested it today. Works great and cured my problems. ABS light is off now, no more dim lights and almost stalling when I put the clutch in. FULL POWER.!

Yeah, very very perky. Hadn't realized how bad the car was with the old alternator. My tach, econo and temp gauges have started wandering around again though.! Bah need to sort that it's so annoying.

From what I've read on here there is a brass nut on the back of the clocks that comes loose. My temp gauge goes wonky when over 1/4, but not got round to sorting it yet

I fixed it.! I disconnected the battery and joined the 2 cables together, turned the ignition to position 2 and left it for 10 mins. Connected it all up again and now they work.

I did this as I was reading a procedure to reseting the ECU capacitors that remember the adaptive values even when the battery is disconnected. I had changed so many parts on the engine over the last few months and it just wasn't running right. It's brilliant now, more power and smoother. Seems to have cured that lumpy cold idle I had too. Everyone needs to try this.!

It is! I think I've changed so many parts and done so much, the ecu settings were adjusted to compensate for bad parts. Then continued to run not great even with the new parts if you get me. New parts running on settings from poor parts.

Interesting how disconnecting the battery doesn't really reset the ecu. You then have to short the entire electrical system to make it forget everything.

i'll do that when the lump is in, good tip. Problem is i keep working on the tech 1 and have neglected the M30 now for a while, need to get started on it again. So close now to finishing it also, I just need the motivation to carry on.
