Mayo on the oil cap and a little on the top of the dip stick. Looks like a head gasket as I have already had the cover off and run it up, there's no signs of cracks or jets of water.
Just need the time to do it now. :(.

Going to do all the normal tests on Sunday so I know wher to look when I take the head off. I don't suspect block as she's not pressuring. Fingers crossed or new lump hunting.

I can get my hands on a E28 b34 and bolt my bits on but not sure its got the same pull.

I'd wait until warmer weather - it may disappear then, of it's own accord.

I very much doubt that mo, besides its nice and sunny here.

Rav something tells me to stay away from the e28 lumps.

E28 lumps , if you get one for the right price, aren't too bad mark, but many are past their own sell by dates, and ideally need a few £'s thrown at them.

E34 are better, peado pete has one if you do get stuck looking for a good one.

Well put pressure in each cylinder and got good results. So not head gasket. Pressurized the water system and with two people searching the little dribble was found. I took a pic will post later. So as its a cracked head I can order a head set and get on with changing it with the spare head.

So M30 heads crack as well? I thought this was an M20 thing.

All 12v BMW heads have been known to do so. And normally around 5 or 6. Mines gone on 5. Its a shame as the rings and valve seats are letting very little pressure through on 2 & 3 and the rest are fine. Will put it down to using the nos to much and stressing it before its time.

I thought the heads were stronger on the M30, taking about 400hp without any failings 8O
