im going to be running this diff with 17 inch wheels on 40 profile tyres. Is it going to be ok or way too high a ratio?

The car will mainly be for drifting/taking up the strip/the occasional trackday and will only be used on the road maybe once or twice a week so not worried about fuel consumption or revs at motorway speed too much.

Am i right hoping that it should accelerate very well but maybe top out at say, 130ish mph?

Gear ratio calculator can be found on the left hand menu here http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/bmw.html

M30B35 with 3.91 makes second into first but is damn good fun. I only moved from the 3.91 as I do motorway miles now and it wasn't that much fun with the revs... overtaking was fun though winkeye

You have to be careful when it's a bit damp as you can easily spin up the back wheels in third at 30mph + whenplanting your right foot

130mph is 5569rpm with peak power around 4800rpm
