Non duel mass flywheel options?
Moderator: martauto
Any one not running a single mass flywheel on their m30? What's the deal with it and can it be done cheap using other BMW parts?
The most common one used to convert to single mass is from E28 535i / M535i.
But the E34 clutch won't bolt the this flywheel so you'd also need an E28 clutch.

E28 535i is the way forward. I was lucky and won a complete M30B34 engine on ebay that had the fly and clutch still attached.... I paid £50 and the clutch was nearly new
You may find that the 635i and the early 735i also used the single mass fly.
E34 530/535i and E32 730/735i used dual mass flywheel's and need to be used with the matching clutch.

Thanks I'll keep my eyes out for one of those setups.
Anyone managed to remove the gearbox with the engine in P3 and still in the car?

Although I'd cut the top bellhousing bolt lug off to give a bit more clearence in the tunnel.
Getting the 'box back on again was a different story though.
