E30 Zone

Hi guys
My external fuel pump ahead nearside rear wheel sounds like its performing morse code! Still drives ok (so far), been doing it for just a few days. Can also hear it inside the car. Definitely the pump, doesn't really overly smell petrol though, or no more than usual when close to it. Any idea's?

From personal experience, a whining pump can mean imminent failure, or you could get thousands of miles more out of it! However, after taking two hours to make it four miles home once at 3am, whilst repeatedly hitting the top of the pump with a hammer to get it going for ten second intervals, I would replace the pump as soon as possible.
