e30 323i Megasquirt fuel only setup... TPS required?

Hi all.
I was in the process of removing the engine from my e30 today and I noticed that the TPS was not plugged in at all, in fact I had to scratch around in the engine bay just to find the plug on the ljet loom.
Is this normal for a MS fuel only set up? I brought the car as is and from what I can tell the MS set up was done some time ago, the head was rebuilt just before I got the car, could it have been left unplugged by accident?
I recently took my e30 for its first trackday, much fun was had but it did highlight a distinct lack of top end.
The car currently has a megasquirt fuel only set up with 19lb injectors, 2.7 bottom end, ported 731 head, 282/272 cam, B25 mani and TB, 3.73 lsd etc etc...
It should be decently fast but frankly my old e21 with M20B25 and 3.9 gears was wilder.
