i dont know the history of the engine, its not in yet. had sump n rocker off no signs of metal shrapnel or gunk on top end... all pretty clean

have a new timing belt water pump oil oil filter and plugs also to be fitted to it....

im really jus curious at that sorta mileage are the rings journels crank bearings likely to be fucked or on the way out...

They really are bullet proof. My Dad when he had an E30 320i as a company car was told by his Managing director to blow the engine up to get a replacement under warranty (I think it had something small go wrong with it) on the way to BMW my dad bounced it off the limiter the whole way there and all he did was chip a lobe on the cam.

My brother had a 325i vert, he ragged the nuts off of it for 100k until a crap garage caused the head to go.

So in other words don't worry, slot it in it'll be fine!

The bottom ends are usually good for 250,000 miles or so as long as they've been serviced properly with decent oil.

Your new here, not a good idea to suggest we are a load of raging homos when you're asking for help :D

Your mates computer would suggest there is a problem with your ECU (electronic control unit) or another part of the engine managment system.

Later big boy
