engine re build

what would you guys recommend replacing on a m20b25 engine re build besides the obvious like gaskets waterpump belts oil pump, read some where bmw reccomend re placing the main cap bolts but said nufing about the rod bolts?? shopping list plz

main cap bolts are non stretch and are reused, rod bolts are stretch and should be replaced

Its always worth looking at the crank bearings, if there is any signs of wear and tear they are worth replacing. Plus if you want to spend a bit more you can re grind cylinders and crank shaft for a few hundred £. you'll have a engine almost back to 0 miles but will have to run in after the re-build.

If all bearing faces are fine and not too much wear on the cylinder it will be fine, unless to looking for more power these engine will keep on going. I've seen many with 200-400k miles.
