I am currently in the market for an e30, I have found one for sale local to me which has had an engine coversion completed already.
The seller says it has the 2.7 lump from a 525, but has a 325 head on it.
Is this conversion common, do people rate it?
Any help would be great
Liam

unless its got b52 pistons in it as well then its far from ideal.
it is a common conversion if you look at the american boys as the 525e was a lot more common over there.
best to check the engine number though as it may be a chancer trying to pass off a 325 lump as a 2.7.

My 2.7i with eta pistons and a 885 head runs about 175hp in an E28. Damilermans E30 327i (eta block) with a 731 head a bit more develops more but his engine is a rebuilt one, mine isn't.
A Hairysreech said it it is not ideal but is cheap and common. There are a number of E30's on here with this combination and a growing number of E28's. To me this combination of eta block and head make perfect sense for a 525e but since in a 325i you have to dismatle the engine to stroke it why not do it properly and build a full blooded 2.7i oe a 2.8i.
