Engine Swap E30(M20)325i to E36 325i-any complications pls?

I have an 1990 E30 325i with an M20 engine and am looking for a replacement engine. I have an opportunity for an engine from an E36 325i at a reasonable price - is a swap fairly straight forward as long as I take the ECU as well, or are there problems involved that other members could forewarn me about please? Thanks peeps!

Or would I be better looking for an engine from a 525 of a similar age perhaps?
