Knock Sensor Mounting on 325 Turbo

Hi,

I have a 325 Turbo that's now up and running and I'm planning to install a knock sensor onto my M20B25 block to aid with tuning (megasquirt).

Anyone fitted one before and can recommend a good place to mount it?

I'm planning to use a Bosch sensor probably onto a stud mounted somewhere in the middle area of the block.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Thanks,

Phil

There is a bolt hole close to the starter motor sometimes used to fasten the starter motor with a bracket , if that´s loose then that´s an ideal place.

Thanks I'll look into that and see if it's free.

That hole was available and works a treat!

Thanks,

What knock sensor are you using?

This is the one I was going to use:

But thought I'd give the DIY mechanics stethoscope method a try and it works a treat!

Basically it's some 10mm copper pipe flattened at one end and drilled for a bolt to fit the hole mentioned above. Then I hot glued some poly tube into the other end and fed this through the bulk head into the cabin and into a set of ear defenders with the foam removed.

You can hear any knock very clearly through the ear defenders and you don't have any issues setting up the sensor frequency to match your engine.
