Hello!

I feel kind of special, beeing the first to open a thread in this subforum

Anyways, building my self a drift car (not BMW) with this legendary engine, and I am looking for some valve spring upgrades, beacuse the rev limit is going high- about 7500rpm. Also need some suplier info on some better then OEM tooth belts- also for aiding reliability at those high rpm-s.

Sent a mail to this company:
kormanautoworks.com , but there has been no reply, so looking on.

My mentor says that some time ago (hes old :D ) there was a company called Albrecht or simillar, that produced stronger valve springs, and the price was not sky high. Anyone heard of this company? Google doesnt know much...

Thanks in advance...

Schrick do up-rated valve springs I'm pretty sure. How do you plan on making power at 7500rpm?

oakey, cat cams do a monster cam for the m20, well over 300 degrees duration.

Valve springs at 7500rpm? you need to worry about the standard rockers more, there's normally a set on ebay for mega bucks, and I beleive 'turbobrown' on here had some custom made.

you'll only want to uprate the springs if the cam your running needs it. And it must be some hairy arse cam to be making power at 7500rpm on an M20!

most of the time you only need to start worrying about this if your running a 288/288 style cam or more.

Overly stiff valve srpings are as bad as too soft also!

Metric Mechanic make uprated spings, then after that companys like delwest make custom ti springs but at over a grand a set. As for reliability a stock s50 is going to be more reliable and a lot cheaper than any tuned m20

Listen guys, I can not fit any other BMW engine into an engine space so small- the M20 is going into a Opel C-kadett. Why? Dont ask, have the damn thing lying around in the garage for the last three years, and lots of E30 bits are going on, just beacuse I can not be botherd to go completly without BMW powerd cars.

As for the revlimit: its there just for the sake of it. The power is rising to 7000rpm (not brutaly, but it pulls..). No cams, no internal engine work, just a few bits for endurance, and a lot of Motronic tuning. If it last for a year, I`l be more than satisfied, beacuse my E30 drift wagen with M60 powers should be done by then :D

Schrick do up rated springs, I put a set in when I rebuilt my M20 to a 2.8 along with a dbilas cam. I got them via ebay from a German seller :)

perhaps a cheeper route may be lighter outer springs from a 16v engine combined with some inner helper springs?

you can use a spring rate tester to find out what you need and what you currently have,
