E30's 30th Anniversary Celebrations in Scotland

As I'm sure most of you will know, the E30s 30th Year in the UK starts in March 2013.

I'll be bowing out as Meets Organiser next year but I'd like to get 30 (or more) E30s together somewhere in Central Scotland to celebrate 30 years of E30s.

We have a few options, one which I like is to use the Scottish Transport Extravaganza at Glamis Castle in July 2013. The alternative is to pick a location and date and go for it.

I'd like to have 40 cars lined up for this, to cater for those who have to drop out last minute.

First up, given that most cabs come out of the garage in April, I'd suggest that's the earliest we want to do this.

I can bring 3 cars if necessary, which is 10% of the ultimate target.

Please post up if you're interested in participating and any ideas you have to mark this momentous occasion.

Let's hope you pass your test.

I'll have one and like you Colin, can bring more if needed, but with the numbers of punters posting in the "Scotland" thread we should be able to get more cars and people.

On the assumption that a golf outing is not likely to be popular, my suggestion would be a stand alone event and a full day thing, maybe a morning meet, scenic 30 mile or so fun run with 30 "clues" to solve en route with a sit down meal or something at the end.

It'll take some organising and I'm happy to assist.

Perhaps a local specialist could provide some sponsorship?

Interesting ideas Boyd, thanks. Let see if the masses get on board.

I like the convoy concept, 30 + E30s, in any road in Scotland would be a cracking sight.

+1 on Boyds idea. I can't say definetly that I'll make it as there are a number of jobs the turd needs done and the bairn will only be a few months old at that point. But providing the cabs MOT'd and Taxed I'll hopefully be there.

Looked like a cracking show this year, I'm really liking that idea. Good chance of some sunshine in May also.

Early days yet, as Colin says, we need at least 40 names down as there will always be people who drop out due to other commitments. The more who turn up, the better it'll be

I don't think we can wait for 40 to sign up.

"If you build it, they will come."

The car club in Scotland has some good contacts with two dealers.

We could ask them to ask the dealers to see if they would be interested in a display at one of their showrooms.

Just a thought

Anyone hitting the BDC at knockhill on the 29th/30th?

I appreciate the sentiment that we should proceed and the cars will follow, however, I'm done with spending precious time on arranging large meets with very few cars turning up.

If there's a problem with that, I'll step aside and let someone else drive this forward. I can still provide 10% of the cars we need :D

Your contributions will carry more weight when you have a drivers license and can actually commit to attending anything.

I appreciate you can't understand my position as you've not been in my role on the zone for the past few years and you seem to have lots of time on your hands, a thing I don't have.

It looks like an austere group of dependable zoners will work together to make this happen. Many hands and all that.
