Mini roam

Following on from the successful zone roam up the west coast of Scotland in April,we would like to offer a mini roam late September/early October.

The thinking at the moment is to meet for dinner at a hotel in the Appleby area close to the A66.After breakfast we would tour to Carlisle, then down through the Lake District and back to our hotel in time for dinner.

Sunday we would have a look at the Shap area, perhaps a pub lunch and disperse. To give us an idea of numbers, could any interested zoners please make themselves known?

The budget would be in the region of £150 per couple, dinner, bed and breakfast.Single zoners do not be put off,but if you are happy to split a twin room the same rates would apply, split two ways.

We would also be pleased to hear from zoners who live in/have knowledge of the area for 'hands on' route advice.

Within easy reach for us Scottish lads.

Firm date to be fixed to suit potential roamers, thinking 3-5,9-12 or 17-19 Oct....any later and we loose an hour's daylight...or 26-28 Sept...

How does 3-5 October suit potential mini roamers? Anyone else interested in a couple of days of E30 abuse?

Provided it has clean sheets and a 1/2 decent bar it should tick the boxes, so to speak

:o: bugger, link does not work...this is a motel on that industrial estate close to M6 J44,think it is off the road leading to Asda...Called Night Owl Carlisle, priced by the room with breky at £4.50,dining room, bar and so on. My thoughts are that Saturday we drive some of the Lake District passes and Sunday we go find the Ribblehead Viaduct(Carlisle/Seatle railway)...any more for any more?

I could be up for this, i'll see if i can get the time off and confirm. Believe it or not, i live in Carlisle but as far as local knowledge goes i wont be much help, i tend to just stick to a couple of A and B roads between Carlisle and Penrith and Carlisle and Brampton. In other words a 20 mile radius :(

Am trying to negotiate time off work currently. What sort of time are you thinking of meeting up and where and same same for finish ? Need to be on nights on Monday 6th, defo cannot get that off.

Would be interesting a little less tiring for the 0'l Jock to travel as well.

I think, going by the O/P that we meet up on the Friday night in/near Carlisle for dinner then after brekky on Saturday we head off for the day, back to hotel for dinner /drinks etc then out for a wee blast on the Sunday morning before heading our seperate ways after lunch/ mid afternoon.

Means you should get back home sometime Sunday evening, same for Neil and myself

Dave,

Sounds good. Loosely count me Mandie and myself in, the original post says meet in Appleby then cruise to Carlisle on the Saturday morning. Does not make a huge difference just curious.

Would like to know the firm plan before committing but should be ok. Have only had the pleasue of the Lake District once before and would love to have another gander.

Getting back for Sunday evening would be a good target for me, reckon about 5+ hours.

Will await final plan.

Thanks for the info.

I confess to being a 53 year old clever kid! Shame about it being on the 3-5th Oct as we are running a preserved bus rally at Elvington Air Museum that weekend. Be happy to pop along at any future event, especially if in the North East/West.
