after all that driving, i'm nucking fackered! :D

it was a damn good meet though and well worth the drive (300 mile round trip)

i managed to coax just over 20mpg out of it today though :D not bad considering i was, err, shifting somewhat!

what does suck balls is the price of LPG. my local BP (the only one for 20 miles) is 73.9p, the shell(?) on the A27/A23 junction is 68.9p, the somerfield one on the A27/A22 roundabout is 62.9 and one i found in dorset somewhere was 61.9p! i'm paying 20% more than i need to!!!

Not worked mine out yet :?
Had some 'fun' on the way back with the other 3 nutters and playing with an E36 M3 on the drive home tonight probably wont of helped matters, but then I didnt stick an S50 in to be economical winkeye

m4xos - thats bad luck dude. Would of been good to compare our cars, see who did what and how.

so now I know who was behind me, certainly a nice machine, nice colour. 21.9 is what you pay for a bit of fun, well worth the cost.

i managed to confuse the hell out of a fast lane hogging merc CL500 owner when i came up behind him at speed on the M27. he planted the loud pedal, checked his mirrors a few seconds later and they were still full of alpineweiss II fridge :D
i'm sure he could have tried harder but his efforts had nowhere near the desired effect :P

i also managed a nice low-level flyby of a green 4 pot auto touring as soon as i got a nice clear stretch... how was it gordon? :D

I put my foot to the floor, and just watched you disappear into the distance...

Mine's not TOO bad off the line though for what it is though is it? winkeye

Nice one Gareth - it is very satisfying when you 'confuse' the drivers of much newer/expensive machinery in an older car (well fridge in your case  )

Well, I brimmed the tank Sunday morning and again last night, so my figure includes quite a bit of stop-start town driving on Monday and some more 'fun' on Monday night winkeye .
Im a little bit shocked about my mpg figure TBH - Ive worked it out twice now just to be sure, but I reckon 27mpg is pretty good going 8)

Mine needs a new thermostat, running permanently colder at the moment, probably not much better for me.
Thinking I'll look for a 320i auto when I get a cabby, and eta the thing. 36mpg sounds far better. Though having said that, the eta is 30 years old now, so I would think that the engine can be improved for even more economy nowadays...?

I suspect my 316 needs a 'stat, replaced the viscous fan, the guage sits just above quarter mark, the top hose gets hot, the heater works on hot & cold settings. the guage doesn't move above that mark. At least it doesn't overheat in traffic anymore!

Yeah, LPG good, but with the cost of installation, it would take me YEARS to make a saving on the mileage I do a year...
Plus, given another 6 months or so, LPG will be nearly the price of unleaded anyway... It used to be half the price didn't it? Now it's 3/4 the price... if not more...
I remember years ago when EVERYONE bought a diseasel, as it was not only more economical, but diesel was much, much cheaper than petrol. Now everyone has one, diesel costs more than petrol...

Mine runs about a quarter temp too Phil, will go to half if sat long enough stationary, but otherwise it just sits low. No bloody good for the heater in the winter.

Exactly, I remember everyone buying diesels, because the fuel was cheaper, it won't too long before LPG will be like that, & shows everyone all this b******s about the environment & so called global warming what a sham it is.

LPG in dorset cost me 61.9p/litre. 20 miles from home it cost me 62.9p/litre, in hastings it costs me 72.9p/litre! everywhere other than my local place sells it for about half the price of petrol.

still well worthwhile!

You're right, but it's simply the installers who'll suffer as it won't be financially viable to convert. . . there's already one thread on the LPG forum of someone not gettting the payback they were promised. . .

Can anyone suggest how to test if the boot lights are staying on with the boot shut?
