My e30 cabbies

New to the zone but have always had a thing for e30 cabs since my early 20s
My first was a 1993 318.
My pal originally brought it new and I just fell in love. Anyway the car was stolen and stripped, we where both gutted. The car was found a couple of months later and although there was a lot missing he managed to buy it back from the insurance company or there agent but was returned minus I d although there was no damage there was very little left on the car there was a lot of parts recovered with the car. This is when I brought it from him.
I quickly started sourcing the parts list (used) that was missing and got on with putting it back together and had everything pretty much done but engine and running gear. I was stuck on this for a while the cost involved at the time in finding these was horrendous. I then found a 318 is with major rear damage in a scrap yard and they pretty much cut the back end off with a gas torch while I was stood there and sold me the front ,from front seats forward. They said it was quicker that demo it he bits I asked for lol they where the days.
My mechanical build skills where well shocking but I was fine unbolting and stripping the parts off. I didn’t realise at the time of buying the front end how much of a favour that yard did for me turned out I needed an awful lot more than I thought so saved me fortunes. There was a bmw specialist on Parker drive in Leicester, can’t remember what they where called. And managed to get a really good price to fit it up. That of course doubled by the time it was done.
It was mine and I loved it for years.
There is more to the story. And it did go down hill
I do still own it

Looks amazing. I was never a fan of Zender kits (and i was around in the 80's!) so I'd lose the boot spoiler but the car looks very tidy. What are the plans for it?

Looking at the MOT history it seems it was last MOT'd in the UK in 2004 and has an export marker so I guess it's been in Spain since? So what do you know about the Spanish history on the car? Has it held ITV's while there? (ITV is the Spanish MOT equivalent) - but it still has it's UK registration so I guess it was never legally on the road after about 6 months of being there. Loads of questions!!!!

And are you talking potentially peanuts to buy it??

Depends what you consider peanuts lol I’m half in Spain myself and yes from 2004 to 2010 itvs upto date. The owners at the ime where renting the property as I am there, long term. They then apparently got into financial difficulties and had to come back to the uk. This was signed over to the property owner. To cover some money that was owed. All paperwork and receipts are with it. I know what he’s paid for it and I think it’s really cheap 2500euros I’m hoping he’ll take pitty on me and maybe let me in at 3000

Has he tried starting it yet? It looks pretty solid after the clean up. At £3k it is a bargain - have you seen some of the wrecks on eBay recently? One shell of a car with a ripped roof and no interior and engine went for over £3500!!! If it drives then I'd bite his hand off for it:)

Would love to see more of your blue E30 with the Tech 1 kit - if you are bored of it then I'd be very interested in the boot spoiler!!!

Keep us up-to-date with the Spanish car ..... but you haven't said what your plans are for your two cars here in the UK?
