It was the first run out for my 325 since it was built. It came off the lorry having not covered more than 2 miles in the last 18 months. It was my first time on track in an E30. The way it went was testiment to my friend who did most of the building for me
The camera car is my friends 900kg - 235bhp mk2 golf. He has to short shift a fair bit on the main straight.

As summed up by the following driver:
"Great traction"
Very very sure footed car that one, its obviously in quite capable hands Noticed you were miles quicker than alot of things through the bends, that black impreza for example, but it does struggle slightly on the straights.
Going fast round corners is the best thing anyway!

hehehe thats awsome.
Never thought about it snowing at the ring and people actually being able to drive on it.. your crazy. its not hard enough for you?
I like 205's. a mate and myself have built a couple of them and we are about to undertake a tuned mi16 conversion which is pretty rare over in australia.
Nice pics, thanks

Those pictures were taken on a closed track day. We were 15 mins from the drivers briefing when it started snowing. I was working with the organisors and was asked to do a recy lap to see how the track was. The snow was an issue, but the ice under it was dangerous and therefore the track was deemed undriveable. As the only car on track and the only car going to be aloud on track we decided to have a little play. Hence the tyre marks going in both directions

Gary Any plans to do another day at bedford soon?
I am currently rebuilding my engine after I did big end that day
I initially had lots of plans for a "big horsepower engine" etc but common sense and cost have bought me down to earth and I'm just going to rebuild my current engine with a new cam and leave it at that

We are doing the new Angelsey circuit in November and something else between now and then, not sure what as yet. You're more than welcome to join us for those.
Alot of my members leave their cars in Germany so our track stuff tails off a little in the peak season.
I have some places on a Northloop exclusive session of the spring action (crash fest) day at Combe. £25 for 15 mins if you fancy it? Not sure if it's your sort of thing but we will be doing our first car show and thought we would have a bit of fun while we were there. Not worth a special run down, but if you were there anyway, good for a giggle. The idea is with it being Northloop exclusive we know EXACTLY who is out there.

Northloop-would you be able to provide a rough idea of how much you have spent getting the car into its current state? Happy for you to pm me if you don't wish to disclose in public.

Had a day out at Bedford today on the GT circuit and enjoyed it totally, agreed with the above about the struggle on the straight but a heap load of fun in the corners.
Though i now need to replace my control arm bushes!!!

Gary,
As somebody that has made the transisition from 205 to E30, can you give a few words on how the E30 is to drive compared to the 205 particularly on track?
I'm deliberating on making the move myself after stacking my 205 Easter 2007 at the Ring, and fancy a change.
I did drive a 325 some years ago, but can't remember it too much. I love the 205's handling, but RWD is calling me! Give me a kick up the arse......
Impressive video by the way.....

Regarding your brake ducts....
It looks like they make up the entire space where the factory brake duct and fog lamp reside.
Where can these ducts be sourced?
Cheers,
Stu

Alan.
The E30 is built to a higher spec than the 205 and is a lovely car to drive. It is hard to compare the 2. I still have the 205 as it's not worth an awful lot. I will never sell it.
At the moment the BMW is ticking all the boxes though.
To the guy who asked about my brake ducts. They do indeed fill the whole duct and fog light area. I didnt buy them, they are made of 2 ducts each side cut and bonded together.
