Had a great day at Brands on tuesday (pics in the meets section), but it wrecked my engine mounts!!

Just wondering what mounts people use on their race cars and regular track cars, and if you have any probs??

The mounts on there were pretty recent and got wrecked, so i don't really wanna go for more oem ones.

Will prob get some poly ones for now (any links for purchasing good ones?) and see what they're like.

Was thinking about solid ones, until a couple of people made me think about the stresses on the crossmember!!

Hi, had a similar problem on my first track BM, D plate 325, replacing with G&S part was fine after that.

Now running an '89 318is with 2.7 , full H&R cup kit inc H&R ARB's and poly bushed susp' and no probs with std engine mounts, (regular track and some road use)

Maybe the ones you started with weren't as good as you thought or there's something else worn out in the drivetrain causing excessive movement,

best of luck, Steve

We use a single piece rubber bush with two studs, but held inside a 2-piece alloy cup that protects the bush from heat, but also stops it coming apart if the bush breaks.

Yep, I had the same problem on my first track E30 but replacing them with standard ones from GSF seemed to be fine. 2 years and sevaral trackdays later, still no problems whatsoever.

:D

You can also use the uprated rally engine mounts designed for the RS2000!! You can get them from Rally Design. I had a set on one of my race cars for 3 years and they are superb. Slightly less play in them than standard but not as harsh as solid ones.

Just make solid ones, then slip in a sneaky slice of rubber between mount and x-member. That's what I want to do. Rubber is for losers, unless it's on a sexy woman  (or on your wonker)
