E30 Zone

Anyone got any advice regarding which tyres to run on a 325 for sprint / hill climb. Used Toyo R888 last year but the championship regs have forced us back onto blue book List 1A road tyres for this season and besides they never liked it when it was anything like moist. Ta.

Toyo t1r are very good, is this allowed?

Very good in the wet also and relitively cheap

That one of the options, I was waiting for someone elses opinion who might have had them on an E30.

Iv not had them on an e30, but used them for 2 yrs of trackdays and ringtrips in a 350bhp MR2 turbo,. Cant fault them.

Used Toyo T1R last season on the hills.
Plenty of grip but more sidewall flex than Yoko A032r, or was it the tread blocks moving, not sure which really but felt like equal grip levels.
Where are you racing?

Its looking like the T1-R's then.

Re venues - Its a sprint championship based ot of Wigton MC in the lakes, practically every bit of tarmac they'll let us on between Leeds and Glasgow.

Whats the setup down your way?

I used the TR-1s at the ring last year and found them to be excellent, good in the wet too.

T1-Rs *very* good in the wet at the 'Ring last year, good in the dry until they overheat - yes, the tread does move about quite a bit, it seems. See my 'Ring write-up for pics:

Does this mean you're looking to pass on a set of part-worn 888s?

I'm also looking for some new shoes for my track car, I'm also doing a three day hill climb here in the isle of Man - my first ever competition so looking forward to it.

The R888's we're last years choice but they've disallowed them this year. You notice the extra sticky - I got 4 sprints and 4 trackdays out if last years, fronts are now dead (too much front sliding - special I know) still got 3-4mm on the rears. Great in the dry - you'll be scrambling leaving the line in 2nd quick 3rd in the wet (e30 325i - heavy right foot).

Note - cheapest I've found the T1-Rs is £45.50 from mytyres.com vat and del inc. (205/50/15)

Handpaper - After your write up a ring trip looks like its gonna have to be done, not thought about it realistically before (its a long way home when it turns into scrap due to armaco). Cant even imagine trying to get engine and gearbox mounts done on a Sunday here.

Tourist day repairs are Ring-Racing's speciality; Gary (northloop) put me onto them. I can't think of anywhere else a business like that could exist, though.

Lots of advice online about a first 'Ring trip, the best is probably Ben Lovejoy's site at http://www.nurburgring.org.uk
Basically, take it easy at first, don't worry when Mk2 Golfs *fly* past you, and be aware that the weather can change drastically over the course of a lap

We've got T1-Rs on our track e30 and concur with above comments - good in the wet but tread heats up and moves about a bit after a few laps in the dry. Bargain tho. Try ebay we got ours for about 40 each all in from a GTI place down south - usually have a "buy it now" and phone number if you haven't got an ebay account.
