Light weight doors

I picked up a door the other day and its so heavy, Is there anyway a door can be lightened ?

has it got all the sound deading and trim on the door? if so get shot of it, also if it has electric windows, that makes alot of difference to the weight compared to wind up windows, the door is going on a track car i guess. so you could fit lightweight plastic windows.

thats pretty much what we have done got the plastic from P4P as above with a slider kit fitted to drivers side saves some weight and still looks ok.

What windows do you have to use with the GRP doors ?
Its going to be used mainly on the road so a opening window would be nice, Well on the drivers side.

Hi
With the grp doors it is perspex window with sliders if you want them
No idea of a light wiegt 4 door, rear could be made from a single door skin and pespex and just pin them.
to save wieght on the fronts i guess if you go to perspex you can lose the windees etc to save wieght

Just spoke to
www.plastics4performance.co.uk and the kits are cheap than I was thinking and they can do front wind up windows.
The ones they recomend for the road/track day are £160 + vat for the kit add £40 for wind up windows.
