E30 Zone

Hi folks, anybody know where these are available from, and roughly how much? And are they worth it? I am running a 2 door 325i circuit racer. Thanks!!!

Various options, depends how much camber you want.

Some mount under the turrets which limits the camber you can achieve, best IMO are the mosley motorsport ones that mount ontop of the turrets.

Only worth it if you are going to adjust them, if not just stick some fixed camber on

Do you guys get Noltec over there in England? WE use Noltec adjustable strut top mounts in E30 Racing...

First step if you haven't already done it is to fit the e30 M3 eccentric control arm bushes. These give you a bit more -ve camber and static castor. You'll notice better turn in and better high speed stability.

Onto top mounts; I have these K-Mac ones:



They seem OK but I haven't used them in anger yet or even tried to adjust them properly / set them up. Will find out how good they are once the car's back on the ground.

I recently noticed Eibach have started to make these that look very nice:

I can't think of another way to set your camber accurately to be honest. If you take camber readings of a standard car it can easily be 0.5Ԛ° variation between left and right, fitting fixed -ve camber top mounts won't alter that difference. Plus you can't correct castor if you fit a fixed -ve camber mount. I reckon even if you only alter the adjustable ones once (to set them up initially) they are a good investment.

It has to be one of the most important things to do to a car you intend to track. Get the front camber correct and you'll use the front tyres properly. Look at an e30 running standard camber after it comes off track and the outside front tyre (usually the left one as most circuits are clockwise) will have the outside shoulder scrubbed off.

You can modify the standard mounts to give you and accurate fixed camber at the front, I run 4 degrees neg on the front off mine this way.

And even after bending a strut I still have an accurate fixed camber, only thing is the top mounts are massively different to look at, suspension rebuild over the winter on that side though ;)

Its is spot on in the dry and interesting in the wet, looking at the mosely adjustable camber plates for next year though so can adjust for conditions and circuits.

The Mosley ones do look very good.

How have you acheived an accurate -4Ԛ° by modifying the standard mounts? I can see that you could drill them and fit the studs wherever you like but how have you done that and known you would get exactly -4Ԛ°? Or am I being stupid?

Eibach havent made those, they are rebadged SPC from the US. I got a set off ebay from Florida for Ԛ£200 delivered including tax, hth
they seem pretty good and give up to 4Ԛ° neg camber
It's true that you get uneven camber from one side to the other, with both plates set on max i get about 4Ԛ° othe left and 3Ԛ° on the right, fortunately the right way round for most tracks.

a mate of mine has the k-macs on his e30 and they move around way too much, they are a bit old but still shouldnt do that.

noltec plates are nice, not sure about availability outside Australia. Lots of US mobs make them too (i'm running a set of Ireland Engineering plates)

We used the TMS ones on our E30 racer, very goog quality and good range of adjustability and being solid improves the feel. The Eibach ones are ok as well

If your on a budget, then Ireland Engineering- 2002bmw.com- offers
about the best vaule for adjustable top mounts for E30.

Also Muzzimotorsport offers a couple of setups.
