At a recent trackday i meet up with a guy who has a caged e30 on here. He reads but hardly posts, but a very nice guy.
Anyway i caught some action in our 200sx of me following the caged e30.
Guess how he gets the better of me, yep the inexperience of youth.hehe
One point to note: The gearbox is FCUKING crap and its going to die a painful death soon...with my sledgehammer.
Enjoy my lack of talent:

Nice vid, I was expecting the E30 guy to make the mistake with a reckless lunge - didn't read : Enjoy my lack of talent:
considering that the Nissan 200sx are so sought after with drifters, I'm a bit surprised how unforgiving yours is

I was far to slow! You can see i am about half a second too late, then i'm too vigorous!
I have some excuses lined up though:
1. 16psi of turbo boost at 80mph turning a corner
2. Rear tyres were crap, fronts were good
3. I was picking my nose
4. There was a diesel spill
I think i just made the last two up!

Hmmm, if I look at point 3, I pretty sure I wouldn't have caught the slide either.

I noticed you are feeding the wheel

You should try to keep your hands fixed on the wheel at all times, virtually opposite each other, crossing your arms if you have to on tight bends!

Yes i'm by no means a superb racing driver, but I think i'm getting progressively faster the more times I go. I think that the next step is to get some tuition from some of the guys there, either in their intergra type R or our 200sx.

I could feel it going before you corrected it
Not bad driving mate, the BMW was taking some good lines. Preparation for the next corner is the key, and the exit speed of the corner is more important than the entry.
At least you are giving it a go dude, lots of keyboard warriors who have never been near a track, at least you are doing it.

the only way to know where you're cars limits are is to go slightly beyond them (on a closed circuit of course

) so well done now you know, any video footage from outside the car for all us crash mongers

id like to take mine out on the track in the wet to get a feel for that as i dont have any confidence in it on the bends in the rain and tend to take corners very slowely

I know I was about half a second off the pace, silly me, perhaps one too many carlings the night before
There is no outside footage unfortunatly, would have made amusing viewing.
Its a nice car to drive on a track, but you do have to keep it above 4k, so on the road its a bit of a mare. I'm suprised at how quick it is, considering it only owes us about a grand. It kept up with a small(not sure on model) mercedes AMG. Next step roll cage and semi slicks I think, then we should be able to give that a good run for its money.
For the price of a couple of nights out you can do a track day, and i know what gives me more of a buzz. The maintenence(tyres, pads and FUEL) add up though, but i'd wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone.

It's nice and cheap at Donny park at the mo, full day for 99 quid if you book direct and in advance.

Cheers Andy, bit far for us to venture at the moment. We try to go to fairly local tracks, so that when the big end bearings go, its not too far to tow home
