Just read the whole well just about awesome project. Hope to do something like this to an M3 one day. He should drop a bike engine in there or something.

I just spent 2 hours looking through all 40 pages of that!
Great pics, great project! I like the mk1 Golf (I'll never have one though as it's the wrong wheel drive!) and he did a lovely job on it - apart from fitting the handed grooved front brake discs the wrong way round!
Interesting read that.

I read most of it last night, well looked at the pictures more than anything. But i gather he rolled it

A truely beautiful creation, destroyed.

870kgs down to 660kgs is very very good, can't believe some people thought that wasn't that good an achievement

I got this down to about 700kg:

That was with a cage, and I had to leave things like dash, doorcards, glass etc in too... it's amazing what can come out that you don't need. You can take bags and bags of unused wiring out of a car, swap heavy fuel tank for a small alloy one, remove all unused brackets etc, strip underseal, seam sealer off. It all adds up!

Annoying thing is having to add 90kg of lead back into it to get it to the minimum weight for the race series!
