Does anyone know what thread diameter and pitch the towing eyelet for the front bumper is? I have a towing strap which I would like to use for a trackday and need to buy a suitable bolt to secure it.
Thank you

Most searches came up with that figure, while another stated it's M15.8xP3.175

Seems a very peculiar thread that M15.8

I'm going to try and find the part number for it on RealOEM and see if that gives any information.
If that fails I was hoping that the guys who race in the BMWCCR or regular track day goers would know for sure as I imagine they must have bought something similar themselves and could advise if I need a washer as well or not?
I appreciate your inputs and the research that you've done to help me!! I will update this thread with what I end up buying and if it fits or not lol

M15.8 is what is measured when you have an M16 thread on the inside or outside.
Even in oil and gas this is not a "thread".
Have a look at these

May help ??
Mart.

Yeah thanks Mart, this link helps a bit as it has information on the threads but I need only a bolt itself so from a hardware supply company as I already have a tow strap (material with a small metal bracket with a hole in) that I bought for one of my previous cars.
I wouldn't want to have to rely on one of those 'universal' no brand eyelet ones anyway, don't trust them.
I'll do some searches in the forum as I can't believe that in over 30 years no one's documented them installing a tow strap

^^ this is an example of what I have that I'm wanting to fit

When I fitted a tow strap I cut a thin slit under the black trim inline with the bolt hole that holds the bumper to the car, and ran the strap through the slit, and the eye of the strap through the bumper bolt. Bit of a faff to get it in place.
