Gear position sensor?

Has any one or does any one know if it is possible to obtain gear position data from the standard gearboxes? Is there a sensor retrofit that is possible? I have a DL1 data logger and Dash3 for my race car and would like to obtain gear position information?

I have the DL1 and Dash 2 and after inputting the ratios it calculates the gear position from the speed and revs. Works perfectly for me, unless you need actual rather than calculated?
