coilover rebuild

Evening folks, hope this is in the right section.

got myself a set of FK koeniggsport (sp?) coilovers with busted seals on the shock inserts,

what I would like to know is, is it possible to rebuild them using standard shock inserts? I ask as GSF are stocking inserts from £30 - £50+ & I don't see the point in paying £100+ per insert when the coilovers will only be used on a daily.

I know I can get springs from faulkners for a good price so why not the inserts?

so, can I use standard inserts or not? Got the coilover bodys sat in the shed right now.

T.I.A.

I'd imagine standard shocks wouldn't last very long if you're going to be running it low.

Although if your in mansfild you dont want to run it that low, the roads are shite.

i know what you mean, have you seen the speed humps in shirebrook? 8O
they're not humps they're hill's lol.

i won't be running it low as the coilover body's are ride height adjustable so i'll be keeping them at a decent level,

just want to get them rebuilt as there's no point them sitting in the shed doing nowt.

Shirebrook ain't too bad, ladybrook is the worst.

Im not 100% standard shocks are worse.

Have a ride to Andrew pages, ask for Matt tell him Jamie sent you, there's a chance they will keep something in that fits.

Right then, got myself a set of koni (adjustable) shock inserts on their way to me so i'll be using the proper inserts (good & strong) & i'm in the middle of working out which springs I need to get from faulkners.

just a bit stuck on where to get a pair of new top caps for the coilovers as i've lost the old one's, anyone know where I can buy them brand new??

Try and get the top caps the same place as you're getting the koni's. They will, after all have to fit the end of the koni damper.
