Just a quick one before I go drilling holes in my transmission tunnel/floorpans: could I attach my lap belts to the lower bar on the rollcage running just above the transmission tunnel?

I don't think the lower bar is suitable, the following photo shows my eye bolt locations which were done in accordance with the guidelines in the blue book;

Thanks for that Theo. I dug out the blue book online and looked for the ref. drawings. Will wait until I've got the seat fitted before measuring up!

I was going to suggest that either the FIA or the MSA would have a technical drawing which should illustrate the recommended installation angles for all 6 belts - shoulder, lap and crotch. Be sure to use the 50x75mm reinforcement plates under the floor (should have come with some in the harness kit).

I should also mention that I am a big fan of the Schroth Profi II-6H harness, which allows you to convert the lap straps to a 'pull-up' style from the traditional 'pull-down'. Really nice crotch strap design as well that doesn't dig into your bits.

So nice to still have feeling in your bits at the end of a race.

+1 :thumb:

I have these in my track car - awesome belts and can vouch for the feeling around your bits as well... winkeye
