I get the impression more people run 195 vs 205, why would that be ? surely a wider tyre is better, just about to order some R888s so your feedback would be helpful.

Current suspension is KW sport with RPM top mounts, thinking of moving to coil over in the summer.

10mm makes very little difference to outright grip, especially for amateurs, but a big difference to the price.
SELOC PBMW control tyre is a 195/50/15 R888.

The theory is that the narrower tyre on a given rim will have slightly better sidewall stiffness and therefore better turn in and less tendancy to 'go off' due to heat generated by sidewall flex.
Toyo have a detailed setup sheet which has been put up on here at least twice, so I wont do it again, but on it it gives recommended rim width range for each tyre width, and recommends for track use to use the widest recommended rim for a given tyre size.

edit and as said above, the 195 is a shedload cheaper - win win.

In our 'Racing Saloons' Series we must run Toyo R888s and I discussed the tyre width issue with Mike Stokes - our main series supplier. I finished up fitting a set of the Toyo 195/50/15 R888s on my ex-Kumho race 325 (which came with Kumho 205s on it) for two reasons.
1)They were the cheapest, by far and 2) Mike looked up thr Toyo tech spec for the dimensions and the 195 actually measures 203!
