Trackday driving for fun and profit...

Open pit lane @ Snetterton Friday, a bloody long way for me, but I had to get at least one trackday in this year.
So again the trusty Touring was kitted out with all the racy stuff (LSD, coilovers, buckets), plus a set of Colway F2 rally slicks, and at the unholy hour of 0330 I buckled my brother into the passenger seat and pointed us NNW.
3 1/2 hours later we parked up in the pits, yawned, stretched and walked about to relieve aching posteriors. Cobra Monacos are not suitable for distance driving and the pillow on the seat had stopped working around Coventry

Later on, with suspension dropped, dampers tweaked and slicks fitted, the fun began....

A damn good day, stayed dry, had fun, didn't break anything, drove home afterward.

And the profit?
Outward and return journeys pretty much identical; same car, same fuel load, same speed.
Outbound I saw 25 mpg @ 75 mph.
Return? 34!
The phrase "blowing the cobwebs away" comes to mind.

What came out of that tiny truck parked behind your car? The trucks ramps look longer than the truck itself.

Also, good to hear that you had fun (that is how I justify the expense.... "it will make it MORE fun" :D )

Engines often seem to run well just before they lunch themselves :D

For those of you not also on Northloop, Nige caught me coming out of Russell:

Colway F2s are awesome.
They took a while to get working (I think they'd been stored for some time), but once up to temp they are impressively grippy. Push them a little too far and they start to slide progressively; I suspect it would take a lot to make them really let go.
A pity, then, that Colway folded in 2007

I did use them later on; the suspension is 'Ring-spec, built to take kerbs

Yup - certainly savage if you go too far - especially on the entrance. Ouch!
