Hey there,
What make/type of oil are you using in your M20 track cars and how often would you recommend a change ?
Mines a 2.5 high comp engine for track use only, I have been building it over about a year - another few months and she will be ready to drive
Is Mobil1 as good as people make out ???
thanks
will

Most the racers in PBMW run valvoline 20/50 racing, cheap as chips and seems to work for them. Changes vary but most probably do it every few race meets.

Like Mr Potato says -we use 20w/50 and change it after every 2 race meetings. (approx 2 hours track time) plus the driving to and from the track

I had 5/40 recommended for mine from the guys at Opie oils. I use that on Silkolene Pro-S with no problems. Though if racers are using 20/50 then i may have duff advice.

Is that 20/50 synthetic or semi-synthetic?

That 20/50 is actualy mineral...... hence only £15 or so for 5 ltrs..
Re Silkolene products, used them for years and certainly wouldnt recommend against them but at £50 a pop its not cheap.
Like anything you pays your money you takes your choice.

Motul 300V Chrono - 10W40. Dropped 15 degrees of engine temp versus Castrol Edge Sport. Fantastic stuff, 100% Double Ester Synthetic. Goes in clean, comes out clean. I also highly recommend the K&N Performance Gold Oil Filters, part number HP-2005, as these are very good filters, and easy to attach/remove on 325i with their 1" nut on the end, which can also be lockwired on if necessary.
