Top Mounting Mods (Front )

By how much do I need to move the standard top mounting to get the camber to 4,5,6 degrees? I have removed the original studs, cut off one side and welded it back on the other side. I can redrill the holes, but only about 15mm away. Do I need to slot the holes on the turret as well ?

We use these adjustable top mounts made my UWEM3 on here...

as you can see this allows us to move the top of the strut over about 18-20mm or so.

Unless you are running coilovers you may be limited by the width of the springs?

correct if you have standard type springs you will not get more than 3deg neg camber.
I am working on a different (solid mounted) version of top mounts already but have been too busy to finish design. Prototypes are already made and running. stay tuned.

Gaz coilovers.

If you test fit them so that the nut at the top of the damper is hard against the edge of the turret hole you are at aprox 4.5neg, more than that you need to modify the turret.

This assumes a low ride height, i,e, the front cross member being around 50-60mm from the ground.

Not sure your plans but for a road car that level of camber and ride heights is

...not with my new mount design. There will be nothing to modify on the turret and still loads of camber (if you run coil overs)

Has anyone done propper tyre temp testing with cambers???

It would be nice to know what cambers are optimum for a track car on slicks and on trackday tyres.

4/5 deg on R888's

There are many variables that will effect the actual camber achieved as such gauging it in position in the turret etc is pointless, get a camber gauge on it

Thank you all for your replies. Car will be off the stands and on its wheels soon. As Jimmy pointed out the only way to check the camber angle is with a gauge - I was looking for an initial starting point. I will ultimatly be using race slics so proper testing ( tyre temps across the tread ) will determine optimum setting.
