Hi guys, anyone going to the 'action day' at Combe 25th April?
If so what are you taking?
£30 for 15 minutes...... Bit much i think? There is a full day with open pit lane 1st May for £170 which is better value

I will be there, it's expensive yes but a good day and worth it imo. I normally book 4 or 5 sessions, so it must have gone up as it wasnt that much last year. Gonna fit my cup kit this time I think, another job to the list

I'm hoping to pop along and do a few sessions. Haven't heard of a drift thing at combe before, no mention of it on the net? I'll have my lsd installed by then
Will post up here nearer the time if I am going.

Doubt I'll have a track worth car by then........but I'm booked in for the 1st of May

If I do by some miracle finish the car ahead of time then I'll be at this(but I'll probably be spending the whole weekend trying to finish my build). Actually my mates track e30 is ready to go, I'll mention it to him.

There is always a drift session mid afternoon, most amusing when beemeredeemer bring their E28 along!! Usually a talented hero in an E36 M3EVO on this session too, really showing people how its done....

Is 1st May definitely open pit lane? May book in if so but likely leaving shortly after lunchtime so probably not worth the trek if its in sessions as I'll also miss the first one at least. We are there BH Monday, so very likely will be a few PBMW/TTRS cars there getting in some practice. I was last there April 07 so would like to have a blat around again to remember how it goes.

Booked direct with Combe, pretty sure its sessions. If you can't make the whole day, the action day on the 25th would probably be your best option to get a few laps before the 4th.

Booking a couple of sessions for 25th on Monday. Should be 3 of us there, me and Mickey (two PBMW 318s) and Phil a mate who is thinking of racing next season, will most likely be in the spare PBMW 320. Anybody doing it in a 325 and wants to revisit the 325 Vs 4 pot debate?

I'm taking one of my 325's, if it's the one with the S38 M5 engine do you still want to "debate" the issue ?

Most of it is in the skip Alex

. When I stripped it down piston slap had scored the pistons and bores quite badly, to sort it would have needed a rebore and oversize pistons so I binned it. The cam had a couple of lobes daffy ducked so I used your head and lifters with a different bottom end I rebuilt from another engine, and a new cam and followers. Was hoping to have it schricked at Brands for a benchmark but nobody was doing any testing, with any luck will get it up to Paul sometime soon to try it on the rollers. Brands was crap but that was down to poor handling and poor driving rather than the engine I hope

so the rest of the season should be better

. Been following your engine/shell saga on Seloc, hope you end up with something decent in whatever configuration is finally agreed.

Oh mate! I feel I owe you some money then!
Yeah has been a bit of a saga, but its all over now, they won't allow it. Thought they may bend them slightly in this case, its not like I'm taking an engine from a totally different car, is one e30 m3 to another, although the other is a 320is otherwise known as an italian m3, and the difference in power is negligible away. I don't want to open any flood gates but seems quite closed case to me. Anyway, just need to find myself an m3 shell now

No worries Alex, you told me that it had a top end rattle so a new cam at least was always a possibility. Mind you, if you did want to twist my arm with a bundle of used fivers I'm sure I'd find something to spend them on ....

. Good luck with sourcing the M3 shell, there was one on ebay a month or two back, needed a bit of tlc from a mig welder but at least it was cheap and would have been a good project.

Fkd that right up. Rang today to book some mid morning sessions, car clubs have booked a load en block so they only have 9.15 am or after 3.30 pm left. Booked three slots in the afternoon, if anybody else is thinking of it but not booked yet best get in quick because she reckoned it would be fully booked long before the day.

I've booked a few sessions for the 25th, come and say hi those who come. I'm in a black caged 325 sport. The car is with James at Redish Motorsport at the moment so will be the cars first outing with suspension and braking issues hopefullly sorted!

Weather forcast is mixed, which is not good. Heater matrix pipe split last weekend and I bypassed it with the other pipe that I hacksawed off as a temporary bodge, got another matrix from Mick but not had time to fit it yet so no demisters if it is wet. Also Phil (a mate who will be giving my brothers spare car a blat round) broke his wrist a couple of weeks ago so will be driving one handed. The omens aren't good

Complete waste of time, energy and money for us. I was trailering one car up as its not road legal, one was being driven as it was all road legal, the other was being driven up on trade plates. The two guys driving the cars left late, I was in Chippenham and had a call that one car had broken down near Blandford so went back to pick it up with the trailer. By the time we got the cars swapped over etc there wasn't enough time to get to Combe so just drove home. Mickey made it to Combe for the last session of the day but was in a 320 so pointless as he will be racing a 318 on BH Monday and the idea was to try some different suspension on it. So all in all £300 spent (three sessions each booked for us @ £270 and one for my missus @ £30) + petrol money time and general aggravation for one 15 minute track session in a car that we won't even be racing. Fantastic result

. Hope everybody else had a better day

Sounds like a shocker! I had a 9.45 session which 5 minutes in i broke my throttle pedal off with a little too aggressive heal and toe.... All in all a good day though as i enjoyed watching the other bimmers hammering round. Will try and get some photos up soon

Pretty much a full gone conclusion is rammed full at least 2 weeks before hand if not more.

I just got the car finished in time, although I had to miss the morning session as I was finishing off the last bits and bobs.....fitting a seat, harness, steering wheel, tracking etc etc! Managed to get three sessions on track with a few of my mates from pbmwc and the car performed amazingly
I followed the guys for the first few laps as its been nearly a year since I've been on track and after 2-3 laps went off on my own. Managed a 1:23 in the second session so pretty please with that. Unfortunately numb nuts here forgot to remove the bolt out of the front of the e36 rack (hold some cooling pipes for e36's) and probably on my last lap it finally rubbed its way through the sump. I knew nothing about it until I got home and picked up a voice message from a friend saying I'd left a puddle of oil where my car was parked

but it still had about 3 litres of oil left in it so I feel fairly lucky! Just going to patch it up with chemical metal as I really can't be arsed to remove the whole sump.
Got another track day at Kevil this Saturday, this time both me a mate will be there in our newly built 2.5's

Lucky with the oil there!
I'll come over and say hi on saturday if I get time. My house is just accross the feild from kevil I can walk over lol!
Thats what the PBMWC guys were doing at the weekend so nice work on the laptime.
There's another chap in Trow with a 318iS and he's built that for track so I think we'll be having some fun once I finish mine
