Thought it might be useful for people to post (in 1 thread) forthcoming trackdays they are booked on. I've not met other e30 people with track cars yet and would like to do so-very interested in what people have done to their cars.
Lee (FieldL) and I are booked on:
Sat 4 Oct Aintree
Sat 25 Oct Anglesey
Sun 16 Nov Donnington
Would like to see you there, regardless if you are taking part.

Bit of a drive??!?!? I'm catching the ferry from the Isle of Man in November (4 hours)

then drive from either Liverpool (2 hrs) or Heysham (2.5 hrs)
Now that's commitment

or possible stupidity

I'm hoping to have my lil' baby ready in time for Rockingham on 30th Nov with Bookatrack.
I live in Hertfordshire and am more than happy to travel to either Cadwell or Anglesey, they're well worth the trip!

Are you there with "Motorsport events"? Ed and Tasha run a really friendly day and are happy for you to wag your tail out of every corner if you want, so long as you are seen to be in control of your car

Have you tried any of the other venues they run from? Great value for money if you don't mind a portaloo and a burger van as the facilities. I went to Colerne last month, it's excellent with Abingdon being their second best venue....IMHO of course.

Yeah they are both really nice people. Very pleasant to deal with.
I have done Colerne, Hullavington, Keevil and abingdon. Abingdon is the best place if you don't have an autobarn 200mph stormer. I only have 160bhp you see! Straights are kept to a minimum.
5.5 hours of open pit is pretty good really, nothing to hit if it all goes pete tong as well.
Keevil and Hullavington are great for our 200sx, but the 205 might struggle a bit there. What car are you usually in?

160BHP is plenty, my mate's only got 120BHP in his MK1 MR2, mind you, it does weigh feck all!!!

Up to now cars have varied, a couple of hire cars (shh, don't tell the hire company?!!!

) but last time at Colerne I took my e30 325i but didn't get on due to noise.......apparently I registered 110dB??!!!!! Luckily my friend was there with his TVR Cerbera so we shared that all day along with the afore mentioned MR2. With the rain pouring all the time it was one heck of a fun day!!!!!
I'm aiming to have the exhaust and brakes sorted for Rockingham in November

I don't suppose you've used a astra 1.9 cdti at Keevil have you? Probably a few years back mind. If so I might have spoken to you. It was either a hire or company car someone was using

Oh yeah I'd forgotten about that one!!!!

I've hired a BMW Z3 M roadster, that only had 1200 miles on the clock when I gave it a spanking.
Another time for my Brother-in-law's birthday I hired another Z3 M but a coupe this that time and of course the Astra as you mentioned. I received an e-mail from Motorsport events offering a day at Keevil for only £49 as they'd had some last minute cancellations and wanted to fill the gaps. It was such a bargain that we couldn't miss it and there were 2 mates from work who'd never been on a track day before but no-one had a car. Until I suggested Phil's company car, the 1.9 cdti!! We spent the next lunchtime pulling fuses etc to try to kill the traction control (Vauxhalls don't have an off switch). We found it alright but it also killed the ABS, everything, it was cool!!!! We gave that car the hiding of it's life!! It went home with the brakes so badly toasted the steering column moved up and down a full inch in each direction under braking!!!!! Luckily before it went into the garage and he had to explain what happened the car got stolen off his drive!!!!!
In terms of if I'd crashed the hire cars........firstly you've got to be doing something unbelievably stupid to crash on a track day, secondly I used to track my own road car (brand new MK4 VW R32 at the time) which was never insured etc so I used the same philosophy. If the worst does happen, arrange for a flat bed tow truck to come and collect it from the track/airfield, drive to within a few miles from your house (note, not the track!!), pay the driver a few hundred quid to get him to sling it in a ditch and claim off your usual road insurance. Seems high risk I know and I'm sure insurance companies are becoming wise to it but as I said before, having done enough track days now I know that actually it's low risk. Not that I have to do that now I've got my trusty dedicated track toy!

I thought it might be you! LOL. One of you lads spun it I think near the end of the lap. Most amusing. I to have spun at about 75-80mph there.
We would have been in one of the following cars IIRC:
Blue 1990 200sx turbo
Silver 1993 405 mi16
Black 1989 325.
I used to drive the cdti a lot at work and enjoyed them, but hated the traction control. Even the 'sport' button doesn't soften it!
Whats the new track toy? Sorry to go slightly off topic folks

That was Phil, I was sat in the passenger urging him on. He was doing so well for his first track day I wanted to show him the joys of lift off oversteer (all he could hope for in an Astra!!). It took him 3 attempts, I told him to be really rough and aggressive and sure enough, he fish tailed left then right before doing a complete 180, I was most pleased!

So as to not litter this page, take a look here......

........I've posted the details of my car, about page 7 I think?

Slightly off topic... I have my ARDS test at Ty Mon, Anglesey on Thursday 9th October.
Does anyone know what cars they use and which circuit?
