Hi guys

Do you lot still run with the DL1 data loggers? If so how do you mount them in the cars? The reason I'm asking is because I do the data analysis for the TVR Challenge and we had a lot of issues this weekend at Brands. One possible reason was too much vibration knocking the GPS lock out so I'm looking at ways to reduce the vibrations transmitted to the DL1 unit. I hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Hi

Yeah we are using the DL1 data loggers. We are being supplied with new mounting plates this year though as we had similar problems with a couple of the cars due to vibration. I had no problems with mine all year though! Best place to ask is in teh BMWRDC forum at www.bmwrdc.com

I think Trevor Ford will be your best person to ask, or John Wilcocks. Certainly John is on the forum a lot, but you'd probably need to call Trevor...his details are on the contacts page.

I had heard you guys were running the DL1 too but hadn't heard any outcome... good or bad. We're supplimenting the DL1 with a rolling road session at the start of the season though .. I believe we are going to Prodrive and ALL the cars will be rolling roaded for that data and track tested with the DL1 data.

The only issues we had with them was that they didn't work & no one believed the figures they produced! I think we've now got them working though, did you guys also go to a rolling road?

The way i see it is that they can be used as a worthwhile tool AS LONG as they are tested side by side with a rolling road & at least 2 similar cars. Then if there is a variation between the RR & the DL1 & that variation is the same on a similar car, then, that variation can be applied throughout & they can be taken to be accurate in their inaccuracy, if that makes sense!

I'm going to be running a separate datalogger as well for my own benefit

Speak to John Wilcocks, he's the man, pm if you want his contact details
