Hi All
Can anyone please advise me...
Whats the best way to secure a fibre glass boot lid without hinges ?
e.g with 4 bonnets pins in the corners? or 2 pins in the edge near the back window and spring clips down to the number plate area (although this could look a mess)
Looking for a neat job !
Suggestions / comments welcome..
Any pics of you installation would be great.

Two at the front in the obvious places where the existing holes are in the valance. A bit of alloy angle bolted to each side of the car at the rear of the engine bay where the original runners bolted, this leaves a fertical plance to drill through for the bonnet pin. Photo paints a thousand words etc, should be able to take a snap tomorrow if nobody posts one before then. This only works if the bonnet has internal ribs like a copy of the original, if it is just a flat sheet it will need more pins to stop it flapping about.

Oh bo!!ocks, boot not bonnet. Will post snaps of that instead, but not that happy with how I've done mine so somebody else may have something better to copy.

Whatever bits you buy, swap the supplied screws etc for your own good quality stainless ones. The "stainless" ones supplied with the pins and clips I got went rusty within a couple of months.

Cheers for the reply Brian28, yeh i have the front sorted.. Going the same way as you but it's the back edge i am concerned about. No ribs in boot lid so it will flap about if not secured.
Hopefully a few others will reply with other options

Mine isn't ribbed either, it's just the outer skin. I've glued a bit of rubber each side at the back in the groove where the bootlid skin meets the rear quarters, the boot sits on these and with the spring clips at the back seems Ok.

Aerocatches are an even neater option too. I've got them on my website at www.zonemotorsport.co.uk
It's worth bearing in mind that bonnet pins and any other protruding bodywork have been banned at the Nurburgring since '09, even if covered in tape etc....flush-fit for the win!

Technically they arent allowed on road cars either as they are classed as 'sharp egdes'.
