Headlamp unit

A stone has broken the front glass of one of my dipped beam headlights, this is the "smiley" type, and is therefore changeable for LH/RH dip. I need only the actual insert or unit itself, not the mounting. Can I have a price for this please?

The reg number will not help as it is a pre-facelift car but I have fitted the later lights, the ones with the cut-out at the bottom, known as smilies. It is the left side.

I have four choices to pick from with no real difference between the four, is it a Bocsh or Hella headlamp?

It is a Hella headlight and is the bottom of those illustrated on this page [url]https://www.e30zone.net/e30wiki/index.p ... Headlights[/u] so from the text, it should be the type fitted from 1989 onwards.

Hi Jon, unfortunately that is not the right part, it is the slightly earlier version that does not have the cut-out at the base of the reflector, which was introduced in about 1989. I have been looking at what parts books I can find on line and I believe the correct part number is 63121386635 or 63121386633. It does not help that the illustration for that is the same drawing as for 63121385453, the part you supplied.

63121386635 is described as "Lamp lens left" which would be correct, but the same number is used for both Bosch and Hella. The Hella one is described as yellow, while the Bosch one is not. To get a clear Hella unit which is what I want, the part number seems to be 63121386633 which looks the best bet to try. It does not matter that it is said to be LH drive, because it can be changed over. The parts list I found is not the official BMW one, so perhaps the official one will be clearer.

Is there a way of sending the unit back to you through DPD or shall I use Parcelforce?

Sorry about this, I should have made more effort to find the part number before.

Hello, there will be a physical difference in the headlamp between LHD and RHD, the ability to convert the headlamp for LHD touring just flattens the beam pattern
and I think this will not pass an MOT in the UK. PM me your email address and I will send you all the part numbers for you to have a look at.
I think the Hella version of the smiley headlamp may be no longer made as BMW only list the version I have sent you, if you want a symetrical look you might
need to fit a pair.
