sloppy gears fix

hi I need to know what I need parts wise to fix my sloppy gear selector and prices if possible thanks in advance

My car revs but doesn't go more than 20mph in 1st,2nd,3rd. I was told the problem is the converter in the gearbox. Isit ideal to get a whole new gearbox? If so where can I find one as I cannot find one for my car in my area.
