How heavy is your BMW engine?

I found this on the web and can be handy if you have planed to change your engine to something biger...

M10 - 82 kg
M20 - 117 kg
M30 - 143 kg
M40 - 81 kg
M42 - 100 kg
M50 - 136 kg
M60 - 146 kg
M70 - 155 kg

S14 - 106 kg
S38 - 146 kg
S52 - 152 kg
S62 - 158 kg

M70 is a pretty light engine for V12...

What about S50... S52 is aluminum block...

Most M40's weigh 80kgs now due to cam wear

my m40 was only about 40kgs untill it went pop :D


good to hear the m30 only weighs 26kg more than the m20 :)


its all about where it is placed and weight distribution.

try to keep the bmw balance

Interesting M30 V M60 weight comparrison there!

Perhaps my M60 in an E28 would be a good idea after all winkeye
