This looks alright, quite close to you and has a sneaky little Hartge badge on the front.

my sis runs an auto one as her daily driver ill find out what shes paying insurance on it she reckons its gettin 20 to 25 mpg round the doors and around 30 to 35 mpg on a run as long as shes driving it sensible not sure if the manual would be the same but wouldnt imagine they would much diffrence. they can be fun in the wet i know my sisters one has the habit of putting its arse out in the wet.

Hello Ricky325isport, i am an E28 man, I have an E28 M5 and an E28 528i. Before my M5 i had an M535i in Lachs silver and before that an E28 535ise. Both the M535i and the 535ise give 218BHP, a rare worthwhile option is the dogleg close ratio gearbox (only 500RPM between changes) both cars come with a 3.07:1 ratio LSD whether manual or auto. If you are looking for performance then avoid the auto as there is no comparison
As standard both the SE and m535 come with metric dish shaped alloys, they suit the car well but the Metric TRX tyres are hopeless in the wet and are now a classic tyre and will cost in excess of £150 each

That said there are many other BMW 16" and 17" wheels that will fit
My personal preference would be a good 535i SE, no body kit and so far more of a wolf in sheeps clothing.
Both cars are extremely good, cheap, powerful undererated fun, all M535's have sports seats and usually leather, same goes for the SE, can come with goodies like aircon, cruise, elec: seats. All have Bilstein sports shocks, and all need to be used with caution in the wet

.
Get one that's been chipped, or buy a chip and you could be looking at 230BHP
Cosmetic weak areas include: around rear Nr plate lights, where rear wings join rear slam panel, boot lid gutter, rear wheel arch lips and front wings above front bumper corners. (remember they are 20 years old now for the very last ones)
Insurance, no problem AON classic with unlimited mileage costs me £285 p.a for

both my 528i and my M5

Lol @ e30 owners warning of dodgy wet handling on e28's
I have just wrote off my m535i

and imo it was the best value for money car I have ever owned. Mine owed me about 1.5k and was immensely reliable regardless of the ridicolous amount of abuse it recieved.
Mine had a fritz bitz stainless exhaust (not manifold) and I was lead to believe a chip and it done 230bhp on a RR recently, not too shabby for a 160k 21yr old car imo.
They are stupidly simple to get sideways and drive sideways due to the immense low down torque and long wheelbase, much much more forgiving than a e30.
Fuel economy isnt the best 20-25mpg ish if your lucky.
535ise and m535i are mechanically identical right down to the same m-tech suspension, lsd and sport trim. The only differences are the kit, wheels, and badge. I'd buy a 535ise if I got another one as I prefer them kitless.
Anything else you want to know just ask.
I have some spares still including almost a whole kit.

Let me know a price on it as well fella, pm will do
jamesh1977
Mine was on the car when I bought it but Fritz's bitz are based in Wellington in Somerset (just down the road from me) and happily checked it over and promised to continue its lifetime warranty even though I wasnt the original purchaser.
They can be a little pricey but the warranty talks for itself as does the power increases. Plus if you catch Rich at the right time he sometimes has a 2nd hand one laying around, he offered me a 2nd hand manifold a while back for a good £200 under new price.
Randomdave on here works for Fritz

I have had a couple before now, love them. But watch what you buy as you can spend atleast £1500 getting it right...mechanically. This was when they didn't really suffer from rust.
Buy the very best one you can find and afford

Better buy one without leather & A/C if its an absolute peach than a scrappy thats got all the goodies. Also, take for a good drive, I have had a few on the rollers that don't make the 218BHP claimed. One was as low as 160BHP....and that engine ended up in a rusty royal blue 325i tourer. It was slower after the conversion! lol. Watch also for blue smoke on over-run....not unheard of on M30 3.5's.

Mine once chucked out a cloud of smoke coming off throttle, only once and was fine for ever after? Blocked breather possibily.

I have the stainless Fritz system on my E28 M5 (think it was around £700) and i have the 6 branch stainless manifold and complete s/s Fritz system on my E28 528i (Total cost £1150

)
Worth it though, if you haven't got it here's Richard (junior's) nr 01823 674459.
